CUII USA, LLC joins in as approved Container Certification Firm by ABS

CUII USA, LLC has joined the Dutch offices of Control Union Industrial Inspections (CUII) and recently became a proud approved Container Certification Firm by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS). Now the USA offices are also approved to perform 2.5 and 5 yearly inspections on behalf of ABS in the USA, on offshore and intermodal IMO tank containers as required by the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) code.
After extensive training and assessment, CUII’s local tank inspectors have become approved Surveyors to perform all inspections and tests as part of the IMDG requirements. With Bernie Harms of the global QHSE & Technical Support department remaining general Surveyor in Charge, Donnie Bowen is now listed as the US Surveyor in Charge. An extensive on-site assessment and audit on CUII’s inspection procedures and management system further facilitated the approval as granted by ABS.

“This local ABS approval confirms our position as the preferred inspection company for offshore and intermodal tank containers in The United States of America.”, says CUII USA’s Manager, Donnie Bowen. “This cooperation will allow for increased competition and improved quality for our tank container clients, as well make possible the opportunity for a substantial increase in market share for the coming years.”

Combined with our established US DOT Designated Approval Agency license, and current inspection services for offshore tank containers, CUII USA further strengthens its position as the national leader for both third party inspections and a ‘one stop shop’ for container fleet owners. Donnie Bowen adds: “ We intend to leverage our success with current tank container clients and this new relationship with ABS to solidify Control Union’s brand within one of the fastest growing market segments in The United States of America. This opportunity will fuel our strategic growth into the next decade while creating opportunities to collaborate with Peterson and Control Union group offices in the United States and beyond.”
